Round Eighteen - Blondeau

Last Round - Sabine was the last kid in the family to become an adult. The three adult kiddos went out for a night downtown (where Sabine woohooed in a photobooth and got beat up by Crumplebottom). Isaac retired by selling the Action Arcade, and Chandler started his career by purchasing the newly available Happy Tails Pet Store! Sabine moved out at the end of the round to her own place.
Who's Who in the Zoo?
Isaac is the youngest child of founder Ines Blondeau and her husband Noah - his older sisters are Paloma and Estelle. He and his husband Dev have three kids together - twins Chandler and Anya, and Sabine. Their cousins are Adela and twins (again in this family!) Marceline and Clementine.
We have moved!
In retrospect, perhaps they could have stayed at their old home - I found the last lot to be particularly prone to pink flashing for some reason which was why I decided to relocate them at the end of their last round. Since then though, I switched to Linux and I probably wouldn't have had those issues anymore anyways. But it was already done unfortunately! Let's take a tour :)

I had a lot of fun decorating the study as mainly a gaming room for Isaac.
I liked to think he kept one of the arcade machines from the business before he sold it :) There's also a drafting table for Dev, since with some clever mods that's looped into my restoring & repairing sub-hobby for tinkering! It's winter time in the game too, so a little less emphasis on restoring cars during this season.
Chandler's room! In case I hadn't mentioned at the end of last round, he's staying living with his dads. Simple way to keep the household count down, and I think of all the kids he would be the last to fly the coop anyways, based on his personality. Family B (Huge Family) aspiration, so he likes to keep his loved ones close. His photobooth pics with his sisters on the wall!

Chandler is off to work at Happy Tails Pet Store. Marco is looking confused about the collar selection! Maybe he needs help with sizing?

He's getting the hang of it... slowly.
Back home, Dev and Isaac are having a quiet day together.
Mostly spent pursuing hobbies side by side, parallel play style!
In the move, I felt it was perhaps time for the eternal Blueberry the chameleon to pass along. Caged pets just... never die in my game. Not sure if that's vanilla game behaviour, pretty certain I have no mod that does that, but that's how it's always been. Except birds which love to die...
But, I wanted them to have a pet lizard again - so meet their new anole, Reptar!
He's settling in nicely :)
Please excuse the hastily taken screenshot with a big section of the wall cutting across the middle of the picture but... Dev suddenly died while he was ON the toilet??!??! That same dang elder chance mod that almost got Melena!
So I sent Isaac scurrying in to beg and plead.
And once again, Grim LOSES! Truly must have the unlucky trait.
Thank goodness! After this I uninstalled that elder mod because I genuinely don't think it was working right. I looked at the tuning and although it said random death should only have had a 2-3% chance of occurring, two of the four elders I played since installing it died. Thankfully both were saved, but I was only interested in that mod if it was a very rare chance of it happening, not a 50/50 shot every round.

So ROS needed to be rolled, and Chandler ended up having "lost a dare" and needing to wear a costume for a few days. This one immediately stood out in the catalogue, and I think you'll soon see why this was prophetic...

Chandler, you can't wear a clown costume and chat online with children... for Watcher's sake, you'll end up on a list!
The weather was still mild enough that Dev could in fact do some work on his car!
Chandler is still searching for love so that he can start his own family. It might be even more of an uphill climb in this outfit, but at least it's a conversation starter? He headed out to the ice rink downtown to see what he could find.

Not much was happening people-wise at the rink, so he headed to McLlama's next for a bite to eat.

However, things suddenly started to go wrong, and then Chandler just...

At least the townies are finding love...
Yeah well that's not gonna happen if you keep assaulting the only guy you have chemistry with for no apparent reason! It's not like there's a whole plethora of gay men in town for you to choose from T_T
Dev wanted to get a cat, and since Chandler owns the pet store, I procured this stray cat for them instead. Meet Mews!
Mews was previously seen around town as a stray here or there, I made her at some point in the past for that purpose.

Chandler got home, and almost immediately, he slapped his dad too!
Dev was seriously unimpressed, and I made Chandler apologize.
I did a little investigating, and it seems I have a mod that makes Sims with the childish trait more likely to do this sort of thing. But I suppose in Chandler's case I saw him as a little more childlike than childish and immature, so this just didn't fit for him. Jasmine Dionne also has the childish trait, and in her case I think this behaviour would track. For Chandler, I swapped that trait for good sense of humour. No more random assaults please...

His aspiration has been steadily slipping this round, all his wants are quite long term things like get married and have babies. I am trying to put you back on track for that Chandler, I am! You've gotta work with me!

I had Isaac quickly say goodbye to Paloma and Gabriel to hopefully keep them from catching it too. For some reason, the unwarranted hostility continues - he shooed her out the door like this despite them having a fantastic relationship. No idea why he would do that!
Mews makes room on the bed and heads to her own basket. These two are now on strict bed rest! I've already had one scare this round, and I have the realistic sickness mod!
Both are hacking their lungs out all over the house now.

Chandler got to take the clown costume off, but I guess he's not feeling great about himself anyways because he wasn't too happy about his bare face after!
He wanted to pet the cat, but she had other ideas.
And this was the final straw for poor Chandler's fragile psyche I fear :(
Not the first mental breakdown in the family either! Although for opposite reasons, Dev actually went into aspiration failure because he gave birth to Sabine lol.
A tough case, but the doctor has tricks up his sleeve.
Feeling much better already!
We're not out of the woods yet though...

He called up the cute townie (who he still had a fairly high relationship with despite The Incident).
But tragically, he said no!
However, I suppose some of the lessons from the shrink were staying with him.
At least I put myself out there - I can be proud of myself for that!
(also lucky he didn't have a date rejection fear!)

Speaking of friends, he did want to make one - Elijah specifically! So he went down to the pool and invited Elijah to join him.
So there's three of us siblings, and we're all best friends!

Still manage a little gaming though - at least he's sitting down!

The hits just keep coming... Chandler burns dinner :( This poor guy just cannot catch a break.
These two certainly have enough energy for something they should probably be resting from!
At least Mews is finally being nice to him.

Still no improvement for them :/
It only finally dawned on me on this last day of the round that Chandler can make comfort soup -_- so I had him whip that up for dinner, so at least they will finally recover and not spread this plague all over town.
I do think though that I will make it a rule that comfort soup can't be used for a couple of days, since I don't have any mods to change its super effectiveness.
But they have done their time, so it's ok for them to eat the magic soup and be cured finally!
I think this snowman is a fairly accurate representation of what this round was like for these poor unfortunate men. Hopefully things will be on the upswing for them next time!
