Round Eighteen - Menzies

Last Round - ROS turned Finn into a vampire for the round! He worked a lot of nights at the Toy Store on opposite shifts from Trevor, so they were making a little extra money. Cole had some romance with Savannah and she had her first kiss with him.
Who's Who in the Zoo?
Trevor and Finn Menzies joined Brightmaple as new playables in round nine. They've had four kids together - Ewan, Claire, and the twins Katy and Cole. Ewan had an accidental child with Louise Crosby, his son Ronin Crosby - making Trevor and Finn grandpas!
In the wee hours of the morning, Cole's girlfriend Savannah is loitering in front of their house, thinking about kissing.
So naturally, Cole got up to sneak her in.
Guess she just wanted to say hello!
Wolfgang found a mysterious friend.

Finn and Trevor share breakfast.
They headed out to the new community arts centre - perfect for them since Trevor's hobby is arts & crafts and Finn's is music & dance!
Finn joined Lola for a song.
Finn has still been struggling with low aspiration :( He was having aspiration failures all over town earlier this round.
The end of a lovely day out together.
Caleb came home with the kids after school today.

Very snowy out there!
Katy's friend Connor came over as well.
When Trevor and Finn got back from downtown, someone was waiting for them.
Trevor's time was up! :( RIP Trevor!
Finn was immediately sent into a tailspin yet again.
The therapist eventually got him fixed up somewhat.
The kids went out to mourn at the grave.
Savannah came by to offer her condolences.
Local wildlife also gathered.
Cole and Katy sat up chatting in the early morning, unable to sleep.
Poor Finn was still struggling! The wolf was taking a routing shortcut through the house, and realises he stumbled into an awkward moment.
Snow day! Which also happens to be their last day as teenagers, so that's extra lucky for them!
Cole is quite excited!
However that was short lived... he caught the flu thanks to some roaches :/
Finn practices on his guitar a little.
Given everything going on, the twins birthday was without ceremony this time.
Poor Finn - his babies are all grown up now! It's been a very hard week!

Life is really just piling on.
I made some personalised changes to their personalities based on my own observations and impressions, instead of what I had calculated. Cole's primary was already Romance A (serial romancer) but I changed what his secondary was going to be - rather than popularity B (enemy of the world) I did pleasure B (hedonist). He's definitely still grouchy with only one nice point, so I gave him the rude trait, but honestly I have a lot of romance A/popularity B pairings around town already. Cole's extremely outgoing and playful, and his hobby is games/social games subhobby. So hedonist felt quite appropriate for him!
Katy's also changed - she's primary Family B (huge family) and her secondary would have been romance A (serial romancer) but I just didn't get that vibe from her at all. So I made her secondary Knowledge A (good scientist) instead - her hobby is nature/entomology and I always saw her as the kind of nerdy Bug Girl, since she was a kid. So that felt like a good fit for her!
95% of the time I'm happy with the aspirations as rolled, and I'd probably be less likely to entirely change a primary aspiration. But I like being a little flexible when I've already got a good impression of how I see my Sims.
Sleeping off his flu.
Time to retire for Finn, he's worked very hard! I don't think either of his kids will be the ones to take over the store at this time, so he sells it. I also have a business venture in mind for Cole, so he'll need the funds.

Speaking of Cole's new business venture - welcome to Lucky Hand Taphouse!
Lots of games and entertainment, plus of course a bar.
And up the back staircase.... some backroom poker games! I'd wanted to build a lot with "hidden" poker tables for so long, and Cole's social games subhobby made him the perfect owner for a lot like that.

Chatting with somebody on the phone, who I cannot recall.
Katy made some grandma's comfort soup for the guys.

Cole went for a day of work. Which luckily for him, involves playing pool!
The patrons were flocking in!
He also joined a poker game.
Katy came along to help out at the bar, since he has no employees yet.

Older daughter Claire came by to visit.
I took the opportunity to give her a bit of a makeover too.
Her boyfriend Gavin came with her, and tried out Finn's guitar.
Friendly competition between father and daughter (which just looks unfriendly).
Trying to do whatever I can to help get Finn's aspiration level up.

Oldest son Ewan also took the night off from his busy life as a cult leader to come visit with his family too!

They went out for a family day of skating this day, downtown at the outdoor rinks!
It's harder than it looks I guess.
What romance Sim could say no to that?
Turns out the blind date was Adela!
I could definitely see Cole being attracted to older women, and the date did indeed start promisingly, with very good chemistry between them.
This did leave Katy and Finn just kind of hanging around, waiting for Cole to finish his impromptu date.
Which continued to go well!
These two enjoyed an espresso.
While they canoodled.
Some much fancier footwork than she showed off before!
Back at home, Wolfgang is an elder pup!
Then the rest of the household arrived home after Cole's date wrapped up, and this time Grim was waiting for Finn! :(
He tried to fight it, but it was no use. His time had also come :( RIP Finn.
I found it a little amusing that Ewan was the only child to get exactly $50 less than the rest.
It's been an eventful and often painful week for Katy and Cole, who have gone through a lot of big changes and are now left with the house to themselves and some losses to process. Hopefully things will be looking much brighter for them next time around, when we see what the future holds for them!
