We've finally made it to the first round in Brightmaple's brand new retirement home! Keen observers may have noticed whose rounds were missed this rotation - that's because they moved in here. Angelie and Joanna Harrison have moved in with their cat Floyd now that both their kids are grown and moved out, and Beatriz and Michael Silva have also moved in since Mia is out and has started her own family. First, a little catch up on last time for each...
Last Round (Harrison) - Starla became an adult at the start of the round, and quickly met townie Travis while out on a community lot, and they hit it off! The penguin seemed to be stalking this household all round, they had at least one sighting a day. Theo had his birthday this round as well, and also is an adult now! Angelie sold the bookstore and retired. Starla went out on a date with Travis and they fell in love, and by the end of the round she proposed and they moved out together, and Theo moved out on his own too!
Last Round (Silva) - Beatriz sold the Snack Shack and retired! Her and Michael used some of that money to take a vacation to Pinecone Peaks, where they learned to slap dance and brought back a cool geode souvenir to show off to their daughter Mia. Grim came for Beatriz, but she defeated him and got an extra day! Her and Michael used it to go on an ice skating date. When Grim came back 24 hours later, she defeated him a second time! So she lives to see the next round!
Who's Who in the Zoo?
First let's look at the Harrison family tree! Angelie is the elder daughter of founders Dahlia and Sawyer Harrison, with one sister, Marina (now Rossi). Angelie married townie Joanna and they had two kids, Starla and Theo. They have a niece, Veronica Rossi, and Marco Rossi is Angelie's brother in law. They have a son in law, Starla's partner Travis.

The Silva family actually has a long standing connection to the Harrisons, so it was fitting they ended up in the retirement home together. Beatriz joined Brightmaple in round one as a teenage exchange student, hosted by Dahlia and Sawyer Harrison. She grew up with Angelie and Marina being like younger sisters to her (they're in the same elder life stage now but on basically opposite ends of it). Beatriz married townie Michael and they had one daughter, Mia - she's now married to Carla (née Georgison) and Beatriz and Michael have one grandchild, Savannah.

The lot is set up so it looks like townhouses with a common area building next to them, but in fact it is one big residential lot. The idea was to combine multiple households in one to condense things a little, and also spice up smaller elder only households!
I use Simlogical's door locking mod to keep everyone in their own units when I want to, so they aren't constantly using each other's kitchens, beds, toilets and TV's... it seems to work well most of the time, although the cat seems impervious to locked doors which honestly feels correct.
I filmed the decorating of Angelie and Joanna's unit pictured here, so you can see more of it here as well.

All of Joanna's gardening stuff made the trip of course! Gnomes included.

Then we've got the Silva's unit!

I kept similar styles and colour schemes from their old homes.

The second bedroom in each unit is devoted to hobby and skill pursuits.

Everyone's ready to get settled in!

Beatriz and Michael were chatting on the front walk while I was taking pictures :)

Everybody went into the activity centre first to check things out.

Michael went for the putting green.

Beatriz served up a tray of drinks.

Angelie and Joanna hit up the Don't Wake the Llama table!

The activity centre is a big hit so far! And they didn't even get to the pool and hot tub downstairs yet! I also put bathrooms in there so they don't have to go all the way back to their own units.

Angelie goes back to their place to make a bite to eat, and feed Floyd.

She brought stuffed peppers over to grill on the patio at the activity centre.

So everyone could enjoy it together!

Michael, you didn't need to take a sponge bath in the sink just because Beatriz is in the tub... there's a whole other bathroom upstairs...

Joanna worked on her garden outside.

Grim is back!

For the third time, Beatriz begs for a chance to save her own life from the clutches of death.

For the THIRD TIME Beatriz defeats the Grim Reaper! The funny thing is, Michael has the lucky trait, not her. Maybe his luck is his wife keeps sticking around because she's beating Grim in games of chance.

Herman the chinchilla made the move too. :)

Time for bed.

Angelie and Joanna chat at the breakfast table.

Grilled cheese is the menu of course. After this generation is gone I'm not sure if I'll have grilled cheese Sims again, since I determine secondary aspirations differently now. I believe it's just Angelie and Paloma left with it.

Beatriz and Michael spent the morning playing chess.

Joanna found the pool!

Michael found the bar in their spare room!

Everyone was spending some hobby time this morning - Angelie worked on the bot station.

And Joanna had a lot of weeding to do.

Beatriz and Michael invited their daughter and granddaughter over for a visit at the new place!

Savannah said hello to Floyd!

That evening everyone seemed to be in an amorous mood...

Floyd napping in his little bed :)

Chatting with your neighbour!

Michael and Beatriz went out for a date at Town Centre Park this day.

Poor Emilia got struck by lightning!

They tossed a football in the rain.

Then luckily the good witch showed up and brought out the sun!

Angelie got a call from her son Theo!

Joanna was out hiking in nature and finding exotic birds.

With all the gardening and hiking she's doing, she maxes out her nature enthusiasm!

The plaque goes up next to her vertical planter.

That night the Silvas hosted a fondue party with this cute fondue pot object! Beatriz loves cuisine so it felt like a gadget she'd love! The object has to use the roasting marshmallow animations so the forks are a liiittle long but it's a pretty cute little interaction anyways!

Joanna learned slap dance from Michael.

Working on her bug collection (trying to).

Everyone ended up congregating in the activity centre again.

They really do have a blast over here.

Herman moment!

Another mishap with bees for Joanna!

Grim returns yet again!

You KNOW she begged for her life again.

Floyd also said hey, leave this nice lady alone!

However, her luck had finally run out on unlucky number 4.

Grim finally collected his passenger to the afterlife.

Michael showed up just in time for Grim to turn right back around....

.. and come for him! Seems he also had the ability to try to cheat death, so he asked for his chance.

And he ALSO WON! These two are simply unreal.
I'd downloaded Epi's mod that gives three days after Sims beg for their life when they die of old age (ordinarily it's always one day at a time) so he should be sticking around through to next rotation now!

He has a stiff drink to process all that's happened tonight - lost his wife, but won his own life from the clutches of death.

He calls Mia to give her the sad news as well.

Michael spends some time with the Harrisons to keep his mind off things.

More hobby fun for Joanna, always!

Hobbies is really what the spend a big bulk of their day on!

Funky lil robot done!

Movie time!

Their son Theo came to visit, and check out the pool!

Being naked in the hot tub at your moms' retirement home is... certainly a choice.

A little visit to pay our respects to Beatriz's final resting place :( RIP!
*~*~*
I had a lot of fun playing this household! It certainly solved any issues that there can be with not enough to do with elder Sims. They were having fun and keeping busy every day, with a lot to entertain them and plenty of socializing.
I have three units in this household, but I'm not sure if I'll ever have more than two occupied at a time. I feel like it could be a lot to manage at once. But we'll see how that goes. Unless he gets lucky with Grim again, Michael is not likely to make it through round 16 which would open up another unit again. I'm not sure if anyone else will be joining the retirement home in round 16 (I'm thinking about whether I want to move Gabriel and Paloma there but not certain yet). I plan to take stock at the start of each round and decide who, if anyone, will be moving there, because they'll need to moved in and then their turn will be at the end instead of wherever they previously were in the rotation.

Date: 2023-12-22 01:33 am (UTC)It was really a lot of fun to play, much more than I thought it would be. I also am pretty sure I will move Gabriel and Paloma in now too, so that will be even more fun then!
